About and Methodology
Purpose
Quarter Mile Calculator is an independent educational tool for comparing first-order quarter-mile ET and trap-speed estimates. It is not a substitute for a timing slip, dyno test, professional tuning, or a sanctioned track session.
Calculation method
The calculator normalizes race weight to pounds and entered power to wheel horsepower, then applies the selected Huntington, Fox, or Hale cube-root constants. It shows all three outputs so users can see model sensitivity.
Known limitations
The model does not directly simulate traction, tires, gearing, shifting, aerodynamics, density altitude, track surface, or driver behavior. Those omissions affect elapsed time more strongly than trap speed in many real runs.
Editorial policy
Pages should explain their assumptions, distinguish measured values from estimates, and avoid invented freshness, credentials, or accuracy claims. Supporting content is maintained by Asteryk and should be updated when calculations or evidence change.
Corrections and validation
The current formulas are transparent empirical baselines. A versioned real-run validation dataset is planned; until it is published, the site does not claim a universal accuracy percentage. Material corrections will update the relevant page and its modification date.
